The identification of this Japanese mortar as being 141mm in caliber is incorrect. Although the likely source was the photograph in BGen Gayle's monograph on the invasion of Peleliu which identifies it as being 141mm, Japan did not field a mortar in 141mm. The correct caliber is 150mm, either a Type 96 or Type 97.
