This plot is not exactly illuminating. A much more useful plot would show what fraction of each country's fuel requirements are imported as opposed to their fuel imports relative to the U.S. As the U.S. has the largest manufacturing economy on the planet (by about a factor of 2 in dollar terms), it is not surprising that it imports more than say Mexico or Australia. Of course, population isn't factored in either - so again, a country with 300 million people is likely to import more fuel than one with 30 million, e.g., U.S. vs. Canada (hmm, a 10 to 1 ratio in fuel imports between countries with roughly a 10 to 1 ratio in population - amazing). So, basically, this plot doesn't really show much of anything useful or that wouldn't be obvious from common sense (especially with the rather crude gradiation). Also, it's not exactly clear why some countries have multiple dots. Other than that...Jmdeur (talk) 14:37, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
