The emblem was created and owned by the US Air Force and is freely available through their website (http://www.af.mil) and their military networks. They have obtained the rights to use the character Yosemite Sam for this particular emblem. The license for this emblem as a whole is public domain because it is a work prepared by an employee of the United States Government as part of that person’s official duties under the terms of Title 17, Chapter 1, Section 105 of the US Code. Despite Yosemite Sam himself being a licensed character, the emblem as a whole is a unique creation of the US government and is authorized for public domain use in its unaltered form.
