How do we know that this was created by a US Soldier as part of his or her official duties? Unless it was created by a military photographer that is highly unlikely.--Doug.^{(talk • contribs)} 05:37, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

It is publish on a official website of the US Army and so it is PD.--Sanandros (talk) 19:53, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

As for this particular photo, the soldier may have given up the copyright or may have been an official army photographer, but publishing on a gov't website does not alone make it PD, it must be a gov't work.--User:Doug^{(talk • contribs)} 01:42, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
