Guanajuato - @Kwamikagami, Why have you colored the state in as if a law has been passed there codifying same-sex marriage into state law. I have seen no reports of it. @Robsalerno: Guanajuato is introducing legislation, so hopefully it will go solid blue soon.

Once the pending states have legalized, we should be able to simplify the map. Stripes are hard to read at small file sizes, so better to have solid colors. We could combine the 4-5 states that haven't passed state laws under a single color, as here. At that point we should be able to mark the unequal-SSM states (where e.g. your marriage doesn't count as a real marriage if you want to adopt) without making the map too busy.
