Wrong link[edit]

There is a problem with this map. Its source is given as http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/AAF/III/maps/AAF-III-map_564.jpg But that links to a different map titled "Status of U.S. Airfields in Western Europe as of May 8, 1945" -- Philip Baird Shearer (talk) 21:49, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Another, slightly more important to me - and more systemic - is that it shows Soviet Armies and non-Soviet Armies as if they were the same type of unit. In reality Soviet units were a grade smaller than their counterparts elsewhere. Or, to be more precise, some armies were equivalent to, say, American or British Corps-sized units, though in fact some were much larger. In any way, the map suggests the Allies had no forces in Europe whatsoever, with 6:1 superiority for the Soviets, while in reality the superiority was far smaller. Wrong Flag shown[edit]

The current image shows the Flag of en:Indonesia not the one from en:Poland ...Sicherlich talk 22:24, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@L'amateur d'aéroplanes: you might be able to help update this image, or possibly it should just be reverted to the original? Thanks. 24.68.142.245 22:38, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Sicherlich: Hello. Sorry, I am not the creator of this image comes from the English wiki. L'amateur d'aéroplanes (talk) 08:34, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I did not adress you but thanks for the respones anyway. I just poste here so that maybe someone who is able to change it does so. But there are even more mistakes (wrong positions, missing important river...) . On de they are discussing the issue: de:Wikipedia:Fotowerkstatt#Flagge korrigieren ...Sicherlich talk 09:01, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
For the record: now de:Wikipedia:Kartenwerkstatt#Flagge und Fluss ändern ...Sicherlich talk 11:13, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well... most of the icons are not flags or even national colors anyways, so I'm not sure the Polish icon was ever supposed to be the flag... but at any rate I've changed it now. --Ibn Battuta (talk) 14:10, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Allied and Soviet armies[edit]

While the file is called "Allied army positions," the caption refers to "Allied and Soviet armies." That is misleading because the Soviets were still allies. Is it possible to change it? The Four Deuces (talk) 03:01, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I had thought the same, but thanks for pointing it out here. Well, so now it's been corrected. Wikipedia / Commons may sometimes be slow to change, but hey, we still have some centuries to work on it, right? ;o) --Ibn Battuta (talk) 13:25, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Army positions: not that correct[edit]

Here impression is given, 3rd US Army only reached Bavarian-Czech border. This is not true, US troops spearheaded as far east as Plzeň - several dozend miles inland Czechoslovakia. And stayed there until late 1945, btw. --213.172.123.242 17:07, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
