I'm sorry, this is not A. pantherina. The A. pantherina would bearing small white warts like snow: for details see EnWiki. The subject is not clear because the leaves cover too much, it could be A. Spissa (!??). In any case the photo is not good for mycological description.--Archenzo 08:18, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This fungus is unlikely an Amanita pantherina, but more likely an A. spissa, because of the the above mentioned reason and because of the absence of grooving on the edge of the cap. If the ring has a grooving (A. pantherina) or not (A. spissa) ist not detectable. --Ericsteinert 06:44, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
@Tintazul, Archenzo, Ericsteinert, and Convallaria majalis: Hello. Amanita spissa and Amanita excelsa have been combined into one species under the name Amanita excelsa. I agree with the above comments, and I agree that it is probably A. excelsa, but the identification is not certain and therefore I think that the category should be "Unidentified Amanita". I am going to change the file accordingly. Strobilomyces (talk) 14:27, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I consider this change of identification to be agreed now, and I removed the "disputed" template and renamed the file. I hope this is OK. Strobilomyces (talk) 14:53, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
