Too many Fleurs[edit]

"The accuracy of this coat of arms is disputed. The dispute is about: I believe the tressure of Scotland should only have 8 fleurs-de-lis, this one has 16."

The blazon of the Royal Arms is not limited to nor does it require eight flory, as can be seen in the Wernigeroder Wappenbuch (c. 1475), this carving dated to Charles I or this carving found on Edinburgh Castle. It is only because of the modern-day standardisation that one sees eight and only eight anymore. Bellae artes (talk) 23:13, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
