[edit]

Does any one know the source of this image, (specifically from which manuscript it came)? Any reference, especially one including institution and shelf-marks would be greatly appreciated. Dsmdgold 22:52, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to ask the same thing. please "from a medieval manuscript" is not a recerence, anyone can see that. If you don't know the actual manuscript, at least give your immediate source when uploading an image! As it is, we have to take your word that the image is even supposed to represent Bede. 16:38, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

A recent discussion on English Wikipedia Bede noted:

Although the image shows up all over the Internet as an unattributed image of Bede, this attribution is almost certainly wrong. It is probably Gregory the Great (the bird in the year), or barring that St. Jerome (the context). It is found in Corpus Christi College Cambridge MS. 389 and described by Budny and James. --dpod 16:22, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

If an identification can be made secure, the title of this image should be changed.--SteveMcCluskey 22:00, 30 June 2006 (UTC) The changes are made. -- 84.173.95.149[reply]
