Blue Police image crop[編集]

@User:Poeticbent, I would recommend that the image stays in it's original entirety—as the Blue Police was controlled by the occupying German authorities, as you notice most pictures in the Blue Police gallery [1] have the policemen shown as they are forced to work alongside German personnel. I question objective accuracy when an original uneditied image is deprived of greater context by a subjective crop, which purports to focus on the policemen, if this logic is applied elsewhere someone could start to crop German troops out of ever image in the Blue Police gallery. This subject matter pertains to history and context is everything in this case. --E-960 (トーク) 12:16, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]

  • I do feel that such crops should not be performed on historical pictures—it would be a different story if this was a recent image of a building or landscape, etc., (then crops can focus on a particular detail), but not in this case. It's the German element that made the difference between "Policja" and "Granatowa Policja" so it important that it stays, also the description and the date is wrong. --E-960 (トーク) 12:30, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]

I see the point made by User:E-960 and I sympathise with his desire to tell a story to go along with that image and thus keep inside the frame also the German policeman (or a soldier, we don't know that) who obviously did not serve with the Blue Police because the Blue Police wasn't staffed with the Germans. Other viewers might not know that. Not everyone knows the true wartime history of Poland. The file is being used throughout eight foreign projects in articles written in languages unknown to us. The crop shows the Blue Police and the Blue Police it is. Others should not be in it. The image captions in all articles will attest to that. Unfortunately, I know User:E-960 also as a perennial problem user in the English Wiki, unable to see the forest for the trees. User:E-960 has been described by Iryna Harpy as "a disruptive editor who is a dab hand at goading other editors and has an abundance of patience in waiting for things to blow over before resuming disruptive editing tactics". I'm not a developmental counsellor and I will not be able to help him, even though he needs to be stopped. His "delete" template is just another one of his repeat absurdities, added randomly wherever he goes.

Below is the old file description which has been revised since, for accuracy, after comments made by User:E-960.

Description = New upload from audiovis.nac.gov.pl on top of sourceless and dubious file from 2008. Polish Blue Police of the General Government territory during occupation of Poland did not carry weapons. This is one example from audiovis.nac.gov.pl among many. Poeticbent, again please refrain from personal attacks, I would like to remind you that during the last incident several admins agreed that your actions were improper and excessive when you deleted user comments from the talk page that you did not like. Again, please dissuss merits, not use personal attacks. --E-960 (トーク) 12:07, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]

  • Oh phlease, don't tell me you haven't noticed that my contributions to Poland article were uniformly constructive and downright professional and yet you fought tooth and nail to have your low brow crummy snapshots inserted in place of historic edifices, because everything you do in Wikipedia is to play with images for lack of ability to write. And you keep abusing fellow editors who disagree with you. Your stupefying accusations of "vandalism" prove that you have never bother to read the rules which discourage newbies like you from doing so. Poeticbent talk 15:40, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]
@E-960 and Poeticbent: My suggestion for you both: Let it go and forget about what has been. Both of you are contributing in good faith and for the improvement of the project overall. The issues surrounding this image have been resolved, no need to get upset about it. Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 15:54, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]
Poeticbent, again completely uncalled for behavior, yet you accuse others of bullying. Btw, regarding the Poland article, you omitted to mention that I also went ahead and fixed badly needed grammar and wording problems. Also, took out outdated statements from literally ten years ago, and replaced them with current data. I don't think you have an appreciation for how bad it was if you did not actually read through the article text, because some of the content was completely incoherent. The article was in desperate need of proofreading, clean-up, matching images to text, and nobody cared to do that before. --E-960 (トーク) 16:57, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]

Do not overwrite files with different version[編集]

@E-960: Please do not overwrite a file with a substancially different crop. I think the original definitely has a place on Commons, but it should be uploaded under a new filename. See COM:OVERWRITE. Sebari – aka Srittau (talk) 16:52, 5 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]

The current image was uploaded over an earlier unrelated picture, the proper approach should have been to just delete the file and not swap images. --E-960 (トーク) 18:11, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[返信]
