Updating this chart to 2021
[edit]Since this chart resides in a fair number of articles, I think it's time for an update, even though the 2021 numbers aren't that far off from those in the (unsourced?) 2017 version of this chart. I've found 2021 numbers in a 2022 reference:
https://ourworldindata.org/co2-emissions
Share of global CO2 emissions by country
Annual share of global CO₂ emissions
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from fossil fuels and industry. Land use change is not included.
Global Carbon Budget 2022, Earth Syst. Sci. Data, 14, 4811-4900, https://doi.org/10.5194/essd-14-4811-2022,
Share of Global Annual CO2 Emissions:
China | 30.902962 |
United States | 13.488192 |
European Union (28) | 8.457607 |
European Union (27) | 7.523509 |
India | 7.2990375 |
Russia | 4.7288938 |
Japan | 2.8752363 |
Iran | 2.0172443 |
Germany | 1.8175743 |
Saudi Arabia | 1.8111804 |
Indonesia | 1.6681392 |
South Korea | 1.6595128 |
Canada | 1.469768 |
Brazil | 1.3168921 |
Turkey | 1.201934 |
South Africa | 1.1742556 |
Mexico | 1.0968826 |
Australia | 1.0537361 |
I arrived at these numbers by downloading the CSV file and in Microsoft Excel, sorting out older years and countries/regions below 1.0 percent. I didn't want to barge in and replace the chart myself. RCraig09 (talk) 04:55, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
