Accuracy of borders

[edit]

The borders of Icelandic regions vary depending on what source you look at. Some (such as this map) say that Bakkafjörður is in the Eastern Region, while others say that it is in the Northeastern Region. Also, some say that Borðeyri is in the Westfjords Region, while others say that it is in the Northwestern Region. I think that this confusion stems from the consolidation of municipalities in different regions, such as Þórshafnarhreppur and Skeggjastaðahreppur, or Bæjarhreppur and Húnaþing Vestra. Which region borders are correct? --Numberguy6 (talk) 16:45, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

True, the base map here is a bit outdated. Borðeyri should be in the Northwestern region and Bakkafjörður in the Northeastern after municipal consolidation in recent years. In addition, Hornafjörður has in recent years moved from the Eastern region to the Southern one. --Bjarki S (talk) 10:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the map using a new base map that I derived from this SVG map. --Bjarki S (talk) 10:43, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
