¿Y las referencias?. ¿Puede un artículo ser enciclopédico sin referencias?.¿Cuanto tiempo puede estar un articulo en la Wiki sin referencias? Porque me parece que siete años, ya son suficientes. Parece que no todos los articulos se miden con el mismo rasero... aqui la gente se inventa cosas al tun tun y las edita, como el mapa de los de los "acentos" del español.

Uruguay

Chile

En Chile también se usa más el "hablar español" que "hablar castellano". Este último no es muy utilizado. --186.78.159.232 21:03, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

No estoy de acuerdo con la afirmación de que se use más la palabra "español" que "castellano en Chile. Es cierto que mucha gente, especialmente gente joven, usa el término "español" pero eso no significa que sea mayoría. Conozco mucha gente que usa el término "castellano", especialmente gente más adulta, pero es difícil decir si este grupo también representa a la mayoría. De la gente que usa el término "castellano", algunos también usan paralelamente el término "español", en particular cuando se habla con extranjeros.

Finalmente, en la escuela, la asignatura solía llamarse "castellano" hasta que se reemplazo con el nombre "lenguaje" en algún momento después del año 2000. Creo que el término "español" nunca se ha usado como nombre para dicha asignatura. (ver también los comentarios en la sección Chile again)).

Sería definitivamente muy bueno si alguien puede poner una referencia sobre cuál es el uso mayoritario, o en caso de no encontrarse, al menos dejar el mapa de Chile como "castellano" y "español" en uso común (en rojo y azul) como en el caso de España. España

Philippines

I strongly disagree with Bankster reverting my changes to this map. There are around three million Spanish speakers in the Philippines, myself included, and while the language is spoken there to varying degrees of fluency, it is by no means extinct. --Sky Harbor ^(talk) 06:52, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Título y mención explicita "en la Constitución" + Ecuador

Me parece interesante el principio de basarse en el uso de la constitución de cada país (cómo lo menciona la leyenda en es:Controversia por el nombre del español o castellano para elaborar el mapa (da una fuente verificable de los datos). Sin embargo, esto debería estar mencionado (como lo mencionaba ya en el 2007 Lin linao aquí arriba), tanto en el título como en la leyenda incorporada a la imagen misma: «Uso mayoritario en la Constitución: [ ] "Español" [ ] "Castellano"».

Por otra parte, esto significa que no hay ningún pronunciamiento en los países que no mencionan al español en su constitución (cómo EEUU) o en los paises de los cuales la constitución oficial no esta escrita en español (cómo Filipinas: menciona dos veces "Spanish", pero obviamente, en inglés, no hay otro término posible).

Hay también que corregir el caso del Ecuador: tanto la Constitución del 2008 cómo la de 1998 utilizan unicamente "castellano", contrariamente a lo que se menciona aquí. INyar (talk) 13:52, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

US/EEUU

Because the US is the country with the second largest Spanish speaking population, around 50 million people. The first one is Mexico (120M), the third one is either Colombia or Spain (50M). Regards. Lin linao ¿dime? 23:42, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

Peru

Can you please revert Peru back? I am Peruvian and I first heard the word Español after I had left the country.

The current version where Perú is red has been done with no discussion. It could be possible that certain cities use only one term.

Chile again

Is this map based on any verifiable evidence? If so, why is it not cited? The designation of which countries use "español" or "castellano" seems arbitrary, dependent on the whims of whoever is tinkering with the map at the moment. In my personal experience, I have only rarely heard the use of the term "español" in Chile; in fact I've been corrected by not a few people the rare moments I slip and use it rather than "castellano." That this may be changing, especially among younger people because of increased influence from abroad I do not doubt. But even if so, can anybody provide proof of that rather than assertion? This map is useless. I'm Chilean, I say "castellano", I know people who say "español" (younger than me) and there are no sources about this topic, as far as I know. Lin linao ¿dime? 21:48, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Error Made in this Image: Removal of Israel and the Philippines

I've reverted the image back to the version showing Israel and the Philippines. This was clearly an error, for both Israel and the Philippines are part of the Real Academia Española, which is the sole organization that administers anything to do with the Spanish language. Philippines, although doesn't officially speak Spanish anymore, still has a long important history with the language and has more Spanish speakers than Equatorial Guinea, a Spanish-speaking country. Philippines also has Spanish listed as an auxiliary language officially on their Constitution.
