The most important feature of this graph as originally published was the fit of the data to the theory, indicated by the size of the error bars. Enlarging them destroys the visual impact of this match. It is possible to indicate the exact position of the data as I have done without ruining the impact of the fit. This fit follows directly from the fact that the larger the sample size the smaller the error. E.g. it is better to test 1000 mice, than to test 10. The boiling point of water is so precise because it is trivial to measure because 1.8 liters of water is 6.02214076 X 1025 molecules of water. The COBE data sample size was the entire universe, giving the largest sample size possible, and the smallest errors. Of course I am aware of the necessity for instruments precise and accurate enough to make use of a sample size this large, but the original NASA comment on this image says, "These precise CMB measurements..." and then give an reference to an article that explains the precision. Sorry but I've reverted. You removed all the translations and converted the SVG definition into an embedded PNG. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 12:08, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[回复]
