"R" plotted wrongly?

If I am not mistaken, the radius of the circle of latitude φ, that is R, should be the line from the surface of the ellipse to the y-axis instead of the x-axis. Is this indeed an error in the figure or am I missing something? Cymin (talk) 09:26, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
