The L3 packet size is indicated incorrectly for the 802.1Q frame. The minimum packet size does not change from 46 to 42, but rather the maximum packet size is reduced from 1500 to 1496 (with the default 1500 byte MTU). The author substracted the wrong number in the diagram.
