I reverted the version by Kaizersoze to the one by Zscout370 because the old version was just fine, the newer was was rather ugly. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 21:56, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you had bother to read why I changed it, you would've realized that Internet Explorer does not have support for alpha (32bpp) PNG transparency. But if you did already know that, then it's pretty conceited of you to think that everybody on the Internet uses Firefox or other IE alternatives. -Kaizersoze 05:16, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The point of using a PNG file is to have those nice antialiased edges, using the 8 bit alpha channel. It's a shame that Microsoft hasn't done a proper implementation of a web standard. No need to punish the rest of us for their mistake. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 01:47, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Last time I checked IE was the web browser preferred by an overwhelming majority of web users. And the fact that both the 32bpp and 8bpp versions of the image look virtually indistinguishable in my Firefox browser proves that you're a self-centered moron. To say that "the point of using PNG is to have nice antialiased edges" is just plain naive. I think you better read the Wikipedia article on PNG before making a further ass of yourself. -Kaizersoze 02:53, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, what I meant to say was that why not take advantage of the natural features of the image format. Furthermore, are you going to change all the other png files with alpha channels too? I'd like to request a peer or administrative review on this matter to prevent it from becoming an all out edit war. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 09:01, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have requested comments on this matter at Meta:Requests for comments/Image:Evolution-tasks.png. ~ Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 09:21, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I reccognize a big difference between the two images, and for comparison:

License

[edit]

I can't find any copyright informaton at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The website claims that the laboratory is operated by Battelle so I assume that the employees are not hired by the federal government. According to their website [1], Battelle is a "global science and technology enterprise that develops and commercializes technology and manages laboratories for customers.". Evolution

[edit]

Erm, can we have the Evolution task icon back, not the Kate icon? Matt Crypto 16:39, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The KDE icon is already in the commons, can we have the old one back? This image is of poor quality (who thougth it was a good idea to enlarge the icon?) Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 23:21, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Changing the actual image is poor form. Upload the Kate icon somewhere else. If downstream users prefer it, they can change to it themselves. This affects hundreds of uses, including places that specifically want the Evolution icon. Matt Crypto 08:42, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you replaced the image [2] with a different one [3]. Can we have it back, please? Upload the new one under a different name. Helix84 21:16, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, do you have license and source informaton available? Preferrably not under the GPL license. Thuresson 06:21, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Evolution is licensed under the GPL, hence the icons too. Matt Crypto 21:18, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
*ping* .. can we have the Evolution icon back now? Matt Crypto 09:44, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is anyone reading this? Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 08:11, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting bullcrap

[edit]

Please upload the version with different names. Unless your version is an obvious improvement, we don't need to replace each others images. Upload with a new filename, then you can take the debate on which image is better to the Wikipedias you are writing at. Regards Fred Chess 15:19, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Different pictures under the same name

[edit]

Can anyone revert this image? I did that but it didn't work. If there is different pictures, please upload to different names. There is totally no reason to overwrite the same name. --Manop 01:17, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This image will remain locked as long as the revert party is going on. The icon I uploaded on March 9 is the tasks icon from Evolution and the license is correct. Thuresson 09:17, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I don't get why it's Kate icon. It should be . At least, the English Wikipedia has got it right (en:Image:Evolution-tasks.png). I was going to transfer it here, as was requested, but then I realized someone made a local copy there because this one kept changing (and landed on the wrong icon). Oh, well.
