Although this picture says its from the Eyjafjallajökull eruption and it was taken May 10 2010, it is actually from the Fimmvörðuháls eruption and must have been taken earlier than that. Fimmvörðuháls is located just next to Eyjafjallajökull where the mountain was not covered with a glacier. It showed this beautiful spray of lava, whereas the Eyjafjallajökull eruption was under the glacier and showed only a large ash cloud and lightning. The Fimmvörðuháls eruption calmed during the weeks preceding the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in April 2010.
