Versions[編集]

Really, in case the new version is not a "better", but just "another" rendition, there should be no such replacement, but an upload of another file. This is the case for most historic coat of arms. For current emblems we can agree on using the official rendition found in official PDF files, but not for historic ones.--Antemister (talk) 21:18, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[返信]

The Fenn-O-maniC's version of the greater coat of arms of Finland much more historically accurate. Here you can see a draft for the grater coat of arms proposed in 1936. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Finland_greater_arms_suggestion_1936_coloured.png The base should be spruce twigs, which clearly can be seen in Fenn-O-maniC's version. The twigs in Wikiotr's version look more like oak leaves, am I right? Although in some pictures there is a fir trunk, the text of the original proposition mentions only spruce twigs ("havut" in Finnish). In addition, the lion in Wikiotr's coat of arms is the modern version from year 1978. The lion in Fenn-O-maniC's version looks a lot more like the lion in comittee's suggestion or in the tomb of King Gustav Vasa, being therefore more historically accurate. --Rotkotiili 17:29, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[返信]

Dear Fry1989,

As far as I am concerned, this has nothing to do with the ownership of the file. The reason I am going to revert to the version with brown bears and spruce twigs is that it is historically accurate, unlike the version with fir trunk and dark red bears.

My source is Tuukka Talvio's book Suomen Leijona, published in 1997 by Finland's National Board of Antiquities. The book can be found in English too, with the name The Lion of Finland, published in 1999. The page 45 deals with the 1936 proposal of the heraldic special committee. According to the The Lion of Finland, this https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Finland_greater_arms_suggestion_1936_coloured.png is the exact proposal for the greater coat of arms of Finland, painted by Germund Paaer in September 1936.

You, Fry1989, referred to this file: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Finland_greater_arms_suggestion_1936.jpg I personally have no idea what the origin of that drawing is. In case you know who has made it and when, please enlighten me. You stated that several users want the trunk, am I right? So far, users WPK, Wikiotr, CoArms, and you, Fry1989, have reverted to the version with the trunk and dark red bears. Did you notice that the users WPK, Wikiotr, and CoArms are all blocked for being sock puppets of the same person? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/WPK

This file should be just a vector version of Germun Paaer's original painting from year 1936, because that is the original proposition of the special heraldic committee. If you think there's a need for a file that shows what you think the greater coat of arms of Finland should look like, please don't upload on top of this file, but create another one. Before you revert back to the version with dark bears, please explain why that version would be historically more accurate.

Yours sincerely,

It is evident that the changes are controversial. The alternative version should be uploaded as a new file, after which it can be offered to succeed the old one in whatever projects it is used in. The decision of their preferred version falls to each wiki individually, and it is not our job or privilege to make that choice for them. --Pitke (トーク) 10:06, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[返信]
It is true that both variants exist in proposals and in that sense one is no better than another. However, considering the reason why user WPK initially overwrote the original file and continued to use other accounts to keep his version visible, I find it quite odd that it is his version, which would be considered now as stable. It is rather a derivative work that should be uploaded as a new file just like suggested above by Pitke. --85.23.148.119 15:39, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[返信]
