Just to avoid confusion: This is not the official flag of Guinea-Bissau, but rather a cartoon, although possibly not meant as one. In the present form the flag-map (i.e. the blending of the official flag with the dispersed Bijagos-archipelago) could be interpreted as indicator of the 'failed state' of Guinea-Bissau, as shown by the broken black star, the sign of former socialist Guinea-Bissau. The pieces of the star are scattered, just like the hope of the people for a just and affluent society, as envisaged by the vision of Amilcar Cabral.
