Colours[edit]

The current non-monochrome colours of the flag (and its accompanying 3:2 and 2:1 versions, etc) are displayed as:

  •      Green: #009E49
  •      Gold: #FCD116
  •      Red: #CE1126

This appears to have been the case going back to the original version of the file uploaded in 2005. However, the post(s) on CRWFlags/FOTW list(s) them as slightly darker (a construction sheet is also present):

  •      Green: #2A936A
  •      Gold: #FFC20E
  •      Red: #BE1E2D

As there does not appear to be a true official specification from the government, laws, and the constitution, would the above warrant a change, or should the current colours be kept as they are? HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 01:51, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@HapHaxion Based on locally made flags, the colors should probably be changed. 98.213.225.105 12:22, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Flag construction update(s)[edit]

@MapGrid: much appreciated for the construction sheet! Would you be able to sync up the proportions on other flags such as File:Civil Air Ensign of Guyana.svg, File:Presidential (State) Colour of the Guyana Defence Force.svg, File:Flag of Guyana (3-2).svg, File:Naval Ensign of Guyana.svg, File:GDF Coast Guard variant.svg, and File:Flag of Guyana (fringed).svg as well? @HapHaxion: , I updated [[:File:Flag of Guyana (3-2).svg]] and [[:File:Naval Ensign of Guyana.svg]]. I will add the others to my list of things to do (with hopes that somebody else might get to them before me). MapGrid (talk) 02:21, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect fimbriations[edit]

The construction sheet of this flag is unofficial and practically incorrect. As a Guyanese who has done quite a bit of research on the national flag (and flags of the armed forces and other bodies in the country) I can say that there is no factual basis for the black fimbriation being wider than the white. The issue with countries like Guyana (especially where there is a lack of specific official construction sheet of a specific flag act) is that there is heavy dependence on images from 'outside sources'.

While the initial Constitution Amendment Act used a highly warped drawing, the successive digital versions of the constitution pulled images from the internet, as such the images are not consistent.

The proportions are never mentioned (outside somehow being placed in unintelligible units) in the constitution, and there is no way to accurately follow them. even the breakdown of the rationale for the construction sheet of this current image notes its arbitrary nature "Given the inconsistencies in the numbers, the only reasonable choice is to ignore them altogether."

In fact, the flag has always been constructed with the understanding that the widths of the fimbriations are equal, and any variations are usually down to human error during manufacturing (again there being no flag act and official construction sheet, these errors persist).

Some images showing flags with equal or near equal fimbriations include: [1] The greyscale image is of the original flag hoisted at independence. [2] Official portrait of the then Prime Minister. [3] Flag in the National Assembly.

Flags at various national events: [4] [5] [6] [7]

As it relates to the Presidential/State Color of the Guyana Defence Force, the fimbriations are wider. It is not unusual to see Colours which have the design of the national flag modified slightly especially given the ratio of the colour (such as the this example pf the UK [8]).

Growing up i've seen a mix of darker colours on locally made flags ( i have one at home), and lighter colours on foreign mass printed imported flags. BaronJaguar
