Colors?[编辑]

Prime Minister of Kosovo website gives different colors - [1]. --Avala 16:04, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[回复]

I know, but actual cloth flags has colors similar to that of the Bosnian flag. I been trying to get an answer from the Kosovo Government about this issue, but all of my emails bounced. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 17:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[回复]
Uh... cloth flags like this?: http://www.nancarrow-webdesk.com/warehouse/storage2/2008-w14/img.182792.html
Looks like the Prime Minister's site's colors to me. Also I thought it was common knowledge the people who sell flags for a living suck at properly constructing them.
¦ Reisio 03:07, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[回复]
Still nothing about colors. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 23:56, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Perhaps we should just use the colours from the flag on the PM's website instead of making them up, at least until we have official colour values --Cradel (talk) 21:02, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

I'll think about it. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 22:11, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
anything yet ? --Cradel (talk) 15:26, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
I been looking and I have seen a lot of colors being used for the flags. When I see the actual cloth flags, I see mostly the colors of the Bosnia flag. But when I see the drawings, I am seeing a lot of dirty brown, almost like a dark bronze. I feel like the colors we have now are fine, but if there are alterations in the size and design of the map and stars, we should correct those. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 18:36, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
Still, the cloths can be made by anyone, even people who have no idea which colours are used, instead of using those colours, we should use the ones from the PM's website, which were most likely not made up, also, in an interview the creator said that the map was gold, and the current one looks more like yellow, plus, the cloth makers could just have been based on bosnian colours without having any idea which the real colours are. Conclusion: being based on cloths is a bad idea, being based on an official website is a good one or at least you should get based on that if your not sure what to do --Cradel (talk) 21:39, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Has anyone seen a cloth flag with this milk coffee brown? The cloth flags, used at the independence party and which was first presented at the parliament had the Bosnian yellow too. They were made in Turkey by Kosovo gov order.[2] The colours of the flag are showing the hope of Kosovo to be integrated into the Euro-Atlantic structures, that means it is the yellow of EU-flag. I think someone at the prime minister's office just think about the German problem to transfer Gold on a flag. There are some images of German flag using this milk coffee brown, but there is no cloth flag like this, too. --Patrick (talk) 12:28, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

As I said, you can't be based on cloths, the independence celebrations cloths were also pretty badly made, not only the colours but also the material which was used, believe me, I was there --Cradel (talk) 12:40, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
Can't be based on cloth? What is a flag? ;-) You didn't answer me, if there are cloth flags with brown colour. Anyhow, maybe could you make another SVG-image with the yellow colour? As Civil flag of Kosovo or sth like that. --Patrick (talk) 16:25, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
A flag is a piece of cloth, correct, but that piece of cloth has to be based on official descriptions and colour values to be correct, doesn't it? As for the other version image, I don't think civil flag would be a good name, perhaps "Flag of Kosovo (yellow)" or something similar
P.S. No, I don't think there were any cloths with this colour --Cradel (talk) 17:30, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
Since independence there are three US companies that offer the flag. The images used on all three sites have a neon looking blue and light yellow. See [3], [4], [5] for details. I'm not sure of these are the correct colors or just stock imagery. Also the US State Department has the current colors too: [6]. Hope this helps the talk move along. Hoshie (talk) 18:45, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Zscout already changed the file to use the colors which are obviously preferred by all official entities. ¦ Reisio (talk) 07:53, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Which are those, the current coffee milk broew or the yellow --Cradel (talk) 10:43, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
The more desaturated ones, as can be seen on the image page. ¦ Reisio (talk) 06:36, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

There was an interview with the president of Kosovo at his office in German TV. Guess what colour had the flag behind him? Yellow. So could anyone make an SVG-Version of the yellow flag, please? Maybe with another file name? --Patrick (talk) 11:03, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

OK then, I've uploaded Image:Flag of Kosovo (yellow).svg (right), the colour is the same as the previous version of the "Flag of Kosovo.svg" but the map is different, it is the same as the current map being used in "Flag of Kosovo.svg" --Cradel (talk) 11:29, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Well, after looking at that PDF page again, it says the colors are in CMYK. According to the program I have, Adobe Photoshop 7.0, CMYK colors are 12-26-58-0 for the map, 98-64-1-0 for the blue background (white is 0-0-0-0). I know this ain't much, but it is a closer step. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 23:25, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[回复]

I wasn't concerned with the size so much as the almost complete impossibility anyone would make a national flag design with so asymmetrical a star arrangement and an off-center state outline (heck, even putting those aside it's hard to imagine how they're going to describe the vertical alignment of the stars and state outline — but I assume there is some semi-precise construction guideline). ¦ Reisio (talk) 23:04, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Well we really can't decide for ourselfs? Doesn't WP:VERIFY somehow play in here? Plus the stars might be aligned the way they are because of a conspiracy to make one star, representing the Albanians larger or in the middle, who knows. Still. If there does not exist any other specific guidelines for the flag from the government, who are we to change it? Xhandler (talk) 08:56, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

"Doesn't WP:VERIFY somehow play in here?"
Not really (besides commons not being en), because government websites do not have a good track record of being reliable when it comes to having properly constructed images of their nations' flags. This is easily discovered on one's own, but I can produce a painfully large number of examples upon request. ¦ Reisio (talk) 15:04, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

I really like this new version, I had also noticed that the alignment of the stars wasn't symmetrical but the thing is, there is no official description, no nothing, everyone makes there own version, just try searching for "Flag of Kosovo" on google image search, because of this we simply copy the version from an official website, and Xhandler is right, you cant say "Hmm, I don't like the position of this star, I'll move it a bit" --Cradel (talk) 20:43, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Oh I really can :p but I'm not going to argue about it when the only thing that will truly put it to rest is an official construction guide. ¦ Reisio (talk) 01:34, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[回复]
