Colors[edit]

This is a significantly incorrect version of my county's flag. This flag has never been used in an official capacity by the government of Montgomery County, Maryland.

The colors of the flag are specified in this archived 1999 webpage from the county government that is referenced on the Wikipedia article for the flag of Montgomery County.

Indeed, you can see the actual flag with the correct coloring in a number of places, including this picture of a few of the Montgomery County Urban Search and Rescue workers that were responding to 9/11 standing next to a correctly-colored flag as well as this this Google Maps Street View of a police station in Wheaton, Maryland, and this one of a fire station, also in Wheaton, Maryland.

I implore User:Illegitimate Barrister to correct the colors in accordance with the archived webpage pasted above. The dimensions of the most recent versions of the flag are correct and a significant improvement over earlier versions. The only thing that needs to be rolled back is the changes to the coloring.

I understand that the flag is, de jure, supposed to be colored in the same manner as the Coat of Arms, however these colors have never been formally defined. While the county's social media profile pictures show a Coat of Arms with light blue, the Coat of Arms in the County Council's office all use the colors described in the aforementioned webpage from the county government.

Unfortunately, the county government seems to have left the actual law concerning the vexillology of our county in the last millennium, with the law that User:Illegitimate Barrister referenced in their second-to-last update last being updated in 1987.

I offer the following two images to be used as a replacement for the most recent version.

The first is a version of the flag with corrected colors and dimensions derived directly from the 2014 version:

Red: #b22234, Blue #002664

The second is a version that is compliant with the aforementioned county government document:

Red: #b22234ff Blue: #39386e

@CommandoEchino: The county code (which can be considered the most "official" definition), just says "blue" and "red". Photographs of the flag seem to show pure blue and red used on the flag (so basically akin to 255,0,0/0,0,255 on the RGB color scale). Indeed, the 1999 webpage shows pure blue/red on the flag images. – Illegitimate Barrister (talkcontribs), 05:49, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
