Stripe[編輯]

I have again reverted SiBr4, because this needs to be discussed. FOTW only just recently changed their images, and they still have no clue how the stripe should be, how thick, the exact contruction sheet, everything there is conjecture. I can't find this anywhere else. Fry1989 eh? 01:42, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[回覆]

The centered-stripe version doesn't have any source at all; it only says it was modified from the flag of the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic (which obviously is a different flag). This Seychellois government site shows a thick, lowered stripe, as do most other websites (I don't know if that site gives the "real" flags though, as most look like cut-off photos of drawings of the flags on paper, and they inverted the Union Flag in the same gallery). Actually FotW is inconsistent with their own construction sheet, as the top of the wavy stripe should be positioned at half the flag's height according to the sheets, but isn't in their image of the flag. The centered stripe does have sources, FOTW is the ONLY one I've found that doesn't have it centered, and as I said, they aren't even sure themselves what it should be. Nowhere in the description section does it actually say the stripe should be lower, and in the construction sheet section, the person who provided it says himself "the wavy stripe was particularily uncertain". They don't have a clue! Fry1989 eh? 19:40, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[回覆]
That's strange, since all flags I found have a lowered, thicker stripe (maybe not as low as the construction sheet implies, but clearly not centered), except the one on Commons and some others probably copied from here. FotW indeed says they're not sure what the flag is supposed to be, but the description of the sheets seems to say that they weren't just made up but based on other images/photos ("I have prepared a construction sheet that seems plausible, but this should yet be confirmed"). And if there are sources showing a centered stripe, why aren't any given? The Seychelles National Archive seems to me an official source supporting the "lowered stripe" flag. Now that is a good source, congratulations on finding that. Now the only problem now is construction. Fry1989 eh? 23:37, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[回覆]

The Guide to the Flags of the World by Mauro Talocci, revised and updated by Whitney Smith (ISBN 0-688-01141-1), p. 156 definitely supports the SiBr4 version... AnonMoos (talk) 23:51, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[回覆]

As you can see above, the Seychelles National Archive says so as well so we're already in agreement, but the construction is unclear so you should have waited, instead of us having to do yet another upload down the line. Fry1989 eh? 01:58, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[回覆]
Pending an exact mathematical specification, it's better to have something more correct in the interim, not something less correct... AnonMoos (talk) 10:30, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[回覆]
