Does anyone know the actual source of this image? You link to the website of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, but they do not say where from THEY took this photograph. I am asking because I know completely different photograph of Alton Limited train by George Lawrence, taken with his giant camera and sent to the Paris Expo 1900. I received from Chicago Historical Society a pdf copy of the brochure about Lawrence giant camera. The image of the Alton Limited train there has 6 cars, as it should (in the photograph you published there are 8 cars!) and there are no trees in the background. This brochure was published in 1901 by Chicago and Alton Railway, so it's pretty dependable source, isn't it? I could not find this pdf on the web, so I temporarily hung the one I received from the Chicago Historical Society on the website of the gallery I run, just so you may download it from there and take a look: [1] Obviously you may write to them and ask them to send a copy to you. Can you research that? Can you verify what is the actual source of the photograph you published and verify why it was attributed to Lawrence?
