Description

[edit]

What is the creature depicted in this part of the picture. Surely the little alien midget with a tail is not meant to be St. John??--115.69.4.81 00:44, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See File:Hieronymus Bosch 089.jpg, bottom right. I'll make a note of it. Regards, Vincent Steenberg (talk) 08:11, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So the alien midget isn't St. John. So what is it?--115.69.4.81 00:39, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's a demon who is caught by the eagle of St. John while stealing the latters pen case. Because he is dressed like a clerk he is believed to be Tytinillius, the demon that notes people's sins to hold it against them at the day of judgement. I can't find the exact source, but it might be in http://www.amazon.com/Hieronymus-Bosch-Complete-Paintings-Drawings/dp/0810967359 - Vincent Steenberg (talk) 16:42, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I think. Actually, I'm sorry I asked. No more ergot for Bosch!--115.69.4.81 02:49, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
