File rename

[编辑]

It has been suggested by BrightRaven that this media object be renamed to "File:Ho Phra Monthian Tham, Bangkok.jpg".

I am not convinced that this building shows the Ho Phra Monthian Tham in Wat Phra Kaew:

  • Ho Phra Monthian Tham has on its front side two windows flanking a door. In this building you have clearly only two (2) doors/windows.
  • The tree is on the wrong side.

Hi, I studied both images and I think Brightraven is correct. The "unidentified" image was taken from the right hand side of the tree that is also shown on D Ramey Logan's image. The "unidentified" photo shows the opposite facade of the one shown in the D Ramey Logan photo. - Takeaway (留言) 13:02, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]
I must admit, that the "unidentified" photo could show the south-eastern corner of the Ho Monthian Tham, though I thought, that there is no room between the Phra Rabiang and Ho Monthian Tham to take a photo (see map). And mostly the buildings in Thai Wat are symmetrical, I mean: the front (western) wall has two windows and a door, while I can only see two windows/doors on the (alleged) back (eastern) wall of the "unidentified" photo?

There isn't much space but as you can see in the unidentified photo, it's framed such that it is possible. If you study the east facade from [image], you can see that it indeed only contains two doors/windows. The naga head chofa coming in from the right of the frame of the unidentified photo corresponds with the roof endings of the "tower" at the n-e corner of the phra rabiang. - Takeaway (留言) 14:43, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[回复]
Ok. This discussion leads nowhere... I think, next time I'm in Bangkok, I will check "on location" and take a photo myself ;-)

Thank you Takeaway for your research. I also think this picture was made from another corner of the building. For the record, I copy here my arguments. Here is another picture of the same building. In this general view, one can see it on the right, below the big golden chedi (see this map). Moreover, the initial name of the file was "File:Emerald Temple Bangkok.JPG", so it is very likely a building inside Wat Phra Kaew aka Emerald Buddha Temple.
