This bank note is not a 5 "sheqalim" one but 5 "lirot" or "Israeli pounds" that are no longer in use in Israel. Two monetary reforms were held in Israel, as a result of which pounds were replaces by sheqels, and shekels by new Israeli sheqels. Thus, NIS is now the official Israeli currency.
