Jubilee?

[edit]

First of all, great photo!

Second, I don't think this boat was ever the Jubilee. As far as I can tell it was named Nantucket, Naushon, Cotton Club, Bayou Caddy's Jubilation, and maybe even Splash Back. I think the confusion arises because there is a boat (actually more like a floating building) named Jubilee which shares history with the boat now at Mhoon Landing. Both were located at the same two sites, although at different times. Both were owned by Alpha Hospitality. At one point they even swapped locations! So it would be very easy for people to get the two confused. Some might even refer to the Mhoon Landing boat as "the old Jubilee Casino" because it did at one point sit where the Jubilee Casino is today. That would be somewhat misleading though because back then it was called the Cotton Club Casino, as is shown in this photo.

In conclusion, I'm just about 100% sure this was not the Jubilee. More info and sources regarding the naming history are here: Wikipedia:SS Naushon (1957)#Casino years.

Added more photos.

[edit]

I added more photos that I dug up of the ship.

Thanks for adding all these photos, Fujosi! Those casino modifications sure didn't do any favors to the boat's appearance, but it's still neat to see where it ended up. Any idea if it's still sitting there decaying? Riick (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
