That Giant Pod/Box Under Ka-52 Port Wing Pylon

Alright, for the better part of 20 years I've seen many photos of the Ka-50 & -52 with one or two of these pods. In not a single book or website have I seen any acknowledgement of this object or what is or what it's called. And Search Engine Queries like "Ka-52 wing pod" turn up nothing.

It's such a large object to mount on an attack helicopter, it sticks out like a sore thumb, so the years of silence online & in aviation media about it seems very unusual. Could not one Aviation journalist ask at an Air Show "What IS that thing on the Ka-52?"

Hopefully someone can find out what it is and what it's called, then labels the photo as such.
