Gibraltar

[编辑]

Could someone edit the map in a way to distinguish Gibraltar from Spain. I think it is important to show that English is also native in Gibraltar. Thanks. --Gibmetal77 19:15, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[回复]

Turkey - superfluous

[编辑]

Who imposed equivocally Turkey on the map without accordingly adding Russia or Norway - if the criteria is EU, then it should be grey! Please remove the Asian country from the map Bogorm (talk) 19:00, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[回复]

This picture has a clear big mistake. Turkey should be gray, as not part of the EU. --85.176.7.126 10:49, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[回复]

Croatia is also not a member. However together with Macedonia (republic of) they make up the three countries with "official candidate status".

Possible solutions to make the map and its title consistent:

  • Remove Croatia and Turkey (>gray)
  • Change the title to "Knowledge English map, EU+Croatia+Turkey"
  • Add Macedonia (republic of), change title to "Knowledge English map, EU and official candidate countries"
  • Add all of Europe, change title to "Knowledge English map, Europe"

Same applies to the French and German maps.

Republic of Macedonia

[编辑]

Somebody changed the map by just colouring the Republic of Macedonia with no references. The fact that was no colour was to show that some surveys do not run in all the cantidate countries. In other maps on the same subjects this country is not coloured so, that is to say that this enquete did not take place in this particularly candidate country. This :http://ec.europa.eu/public_opinion/archives/ebs/ebs_237.en.pdf does not mention Macedonia. The problem is not that the Republic of Macedonia is not a part of the EU but that there is no data about this candidate country in this survey (unlike Turkey and Croatia), so the one that changed the map just guessed the percentage? I think it should be corrected immediately.

Natives!

[编辑]

@Aaker and Rokerismoravee: Can someone delete the word 'native' please? First of all, it's not needed on the interwikis, where it can be in the text, rather on the graphic. Secondly, it is incorrect. I didn't learn any English until I was around 10 years old, and I live in North Wales. Around 20% are the same today (or at lkeast 8 years old), where the English language is a second language, not native. This is also true about Scotland and Ireland (alas to a lesser extent}. Thanks. UK

[编辑]

UK is not a member of the EU. Obviously they know English! 2A02:A46A:2C29:1:9D9C:23C3:C87B:F73E 10:25, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[回复]
