Eeeek! Please make it stop flashing. The constant flipping between flags is very distracting, and makes it difficult to read even simple sentences on the page.
Or better yet, just make it a German flag, for "German" language (just as English is associated with its place of origin, by a UK flag). How can you assert that Switzerland is "more important" than Liechtenstein? This should either include all the countries where German is an official language, or not. —Michael Z. 2005-04-27 15:19 Z
- no, it's sad that only those people are cryin, that think an animation is annoying. we've made more than one image, because just one flag isn't enough to represent all German speakers Schaengel89 @me 12:15, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
I also think that animations just distract the reader. This is thus not a suitable way to represent the German language. I doubt if using flags is suitable either, but since we use flags, I would say that the German language should be German Flag + Austrian Flag. Due to the restricted resolution of the flags when indicating language, there cannot be used more than two flags. — Richie 14:11, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
The idea of the logo isn't bad - but the blinking is horrible. Please stop it! Thanks -- Schorsch 14:43, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
In my opinion, the swiss flag should be added, too. Germany, Austria and Switzerland are the major german language countries and in Switzerland the majority speaks german. 82.83.132.142 00:58, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
This might be true, but how would you arrange three flags? Austria has been chosen because German is the only official language there, whereas there are several official languages in Switzerland. — Richie 11:08, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

- Yep, animated GIFs are a terrible idea. The German flag is standard to represent the German language, Austrians know to look for this. ed g2s • talk 18:21, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- In Austria, the Austrian flag usually represents the German language. 82.83.132.142 00:58, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
- You can arrange them next to each other. to the left: Germany, then Austria and then Switzerland. 82.83.178.162 11:01, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
- For german that may still work (although there are 5 more vcounties with german as an official language), but how about english (official language in more than 30 countries), french, spanisch, ...? Not practical. -- Duesentrieb 12:43, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
