Non-free logos
[edit]Are the Debian, Slackware and Red Hat logos free? According to the license information on wikipedia these logos are non-free and used only under fair use. This would make this whole image non-free. It is trivial to remove the logos from the SVG, but I want to make sure before I go ahead and remove them. -- Borb 06:05, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Following a short discussion on #wikimedia-commons it was agreed that the logos should be removed which I have now done. -- Borb 10:09, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Years
[edit]Since it GNU Linux Distro Timeline why there is no timeline? Who removed years line? 217.146.246.8 20:31, 5 June 2008 (UTC) Vanya

Raspbian?
[edit]Where is Raspbian, and if it isn't there, can someone with more experience with the SVG format fix it? Thank you. --XndrK (talk) 23:53, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Just some Corrections...
[edit]- Chomium OS is based on Gentoo, NOT on Ubuntu/Debian (!!!)
- CrunchBang is based on Debian, NOT on Ubuntu/Debian (!!!)
- Android is regarded as a Linux Distribution and should be included
- CommodoreOS is being discontinued

Updates
[edit]The original maintainers in http://futurist.se/gldt/ didn't maintain their list, they become outdated as of now.
I'm now maintaining it (at https://github.com/konimex/gldt), but I'm not sure whether to push it here or not.
I'm not even sure whether to claim my own copyright or not. Any suggestion welcome, thanks. Konimex (talk) 08:29, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think that it would be fine to add your name to the list of authors. Anyway, thank you for doing this. I've considered forking the timeline myself, but I wasn't sure about what sort of guidelines I should set for myself with regards to which new distributions are added to the timeline or how to reliably obtain information on new distributions. --Michaeldsuarez (talk) 00:22, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- DistroWatch is a reliable source for the list of distributions. --Konimex (talk) 12:03, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
Nova
[edit]Nova is not a distribution based on Debian, It is a distribution based on Ubuntu, please correct this, thanks... See Nova (operating system) — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 200.55.140.181 (talk) 13:51, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- Actually it was based on Gentoo(Enoch)-based on your article. It changed its codebase to Ubuntu in 2010, but for the sake of keeping the original timeline, I changed it to Gentoo and added a connector to Ubuntu. Konimex (talk) 18:42, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
Runtu (fork Ubuntu)
[edit]Please indicate Runtu It is a fork of Ubuntu Russia, founded in 2007. --Volovik Vitaly (talk) 06:51, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
Mid 2017
[edit]Yell we are closer to december 31 2017 than to january 1 2017 and still nobody update the timeline.... why!? — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.253.168.117 (talk) 04:34, 18 July 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 185.52.143.118 (talk) 05:15, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
icon Red Hat
[edit]Please, add on the image Red Hat icon (by analogy with Debian and Slackware) --185.52.143.118 05:13, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- I think the copyright of the icon prevents it from Wikimedia Commons. --Franklin Yu (talk) 03:22, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
history Puppy Linux
[edit]Why on the image at Puppy a separate branch? The current versions are based on Slackware and Ubuntu --185.52.143.118 06:59, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
- From the article [[1]]: "Most of the libraries in Puppy are now from Slackware. Note, though, this does not in any way make Puppy a clone of Slackware -- apart from aiming for binary compatibility, Puppy is fundamentally unique from the foundations upward." Altanner1991 (talk) 01:56, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

PureOS Still Under Development
[edit]PureOS is still under development and did not stop in 2014 like the image says. See https://tracker.pureos.net/ Divad42 (talk) 02:03, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
- I agree that this should be changed. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 22:05, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

[edit]SUSE was originally SLS rather than Slackware. Altanner1991 (talk) 01:53, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
Ongoing errors: PureOS is active beyond 2014 and CrunchBang is based on Debian, not on Ubuntu/Debian. Altanner1991 (talk) 02:00, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
