Shetland and Orkney[edit]

It's a good map, but the Orkney & Shetland islands should not be shaded as part of Celtic Scotland: these isles were formerly Pictish and then Norse, but never Celtic.--79.73.210.157 03:18, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

If we start dividing up the countries into 'Celtic' and 'non-Celtic' sections, I think we will descend inevitably into absurdity. For example, in some circles Finistère enjoys the reputation of being 'more Celtic' than Ille-et-Vilaine (I believe I have a guidebook somewhere that claims this). So, must the traditionally Gallo-speaking areas of Brittany be non-Celtic? What if Lowland Scotland is claimed as non-Celtic on behalf of Scots speakers? Someone else will claim that Northern Ireland is not Celtic – oh, but what about the nationalist community – all right, but at least North Down and the Country Antrim must be non-Celtic, as few nationalists live there – well, what about Moyle and Belfast – ah true, but it depends on which part of Belfast. You see the absurdity. I'm afraid, faute de mieux, we need to respect traditional national boundaries. QuartierLatin1968 (talk) 23:49, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Gallo part of Brittany is not considered un-celtic. A duality between gaulish-celtic (let's not forget that France was Gaul before it was France, therefore of celtic culture) and Britton-celtic history does exist in Brittany, but the two cultures have merged. Anyone trying to say That the gaulish part of Brittany's heritage is less celtic will never be taken seriously. The probleme here lies in the fact that Auvergne, a celtic region of france was forgotten

"are there any suggestions of a better colour for Man?"[edit]

I suggest #8F00FF. A good rule of thumb in such plans and diagrams is to use the high-contrast colours for the smallest shapes, since those are in greatest danger of being lost at small scales, as e.g. here. Jnestorius (talk) 23:34, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
