Parts of map are incorrect or out-of-date

[編輯]

This map is erred or out-of-date for the following:

  • The legend appears to consider all systems with busways to also be Bus Rapid Transit, but BRT has high frequencies, 'stations' (usually farther apart than conventional 'stops' and with better amenities) and off-vehicle fare collection for all-door boarding, which are not present on all trolleybus routes that use busways. A few routes in Italy, Brazil, and probably other countries have busways along some trolleybus lines, but without high frequencies, and they are not widely considered to be "Bus Rapid Transit".
  • Belgium should be changed to red (the last trolleybus system, in Gent, closed in 2009).
  • Morocco should be dark-blue (a trolleybus system opened in 2017 in Marrakech; personally, I am not sure it is BRT, although it has a busway, but the system refers to itself as BRT; see en:Trolleybuses in Marrakesh).
  • New Zealand should be red (the Wellington system closed in 2017, and the Foxton line – which is also no longer operating, as far as I know – is not a "system" [an installation with regular public service], only a museum line).
  • Venezuela should be red (trolleybus operation in Mérida ended in 2016 and never resumed; see en:Trolleybuses in Mérida).
  • Turkmenistan should be red (the country's only system, in Ashgabat, closed at the end of 2011).
  • Mexico should be changed to the darker blue, because the first trolleybus-BRT line recently opened in Mexico City.

Also, the map's "legend" (the list of definitions for each color) – at least the English version – does not indicate whether "planned" refers only to currently planned systems or, instead, to all countries where a trolleybus system was planned at one time. The latter option would add some countries, but would not be very helpful since none of the systems in those additional countries were ever built. I assume the cartographer's intent was that the light blue only means currently active plans. If that is the case, the wording should be clarified, and Ethiopia should be changed to gray (the plan there has been dead for several years now), and India should be changed to dark-blue (there are several proposed systems, but the proposal in Nachik is the closest to becoming a real system; it will change from being just a proposal to being a definite project when the first major contracts [for construction or vehicles] are signed, which has not happened yet, as far as I can determine).
