Authenticity of this pose[edit]

This image is of slight concern to me with respect to the authenticity of the pose purporting to be performed: the background is blanked with the exception of the area around the fingertips which do not show an amount of deformation which would seem to be comensurate with carrying the entire weight of a body such as that shown. This could either be due to partial support from the blanked area of the image, or due to the photo being taken with the practitioner lying on his side on the floor pressing against a wall. I am not disputing that this practitioner is capable of performing this pose – only that this particular image of it is as it purports to be. The expression on the practitioner's face is in accord with this hypothesis. I would like to see the un-edited original of the image.

For comparison, see image of another practitioner in a pose of undisputed authenticity Trev M 20:05, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I found this video on YouTube in which he does the same posture and others where his entire weight is supported by his fingers and it looks quite similar to the photo. Gmonkey42 07:15, 6 January 2011
I would like to confirm what Gmonkey said, I just watched the video and this model does appear able to bear his weight on his fingers in this fashion. Trev's concerns could still be valid though, he does look incredibly relaxed in this posture for such a difficult pose, so it's possible they may have faked it just for the shot so he doesn't appear to grimace or strain as he might in a video screenshot. Either way it still demonstrates a pose the model can really do so it's not a huge problem. AwesomeCoffee (talk) 17:57, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
