An awful image — but not the uploader's fault

I found myself cursing the horrid quality of this image and wondering what the hell the uploader had done, so I tried to find a better version. To no avail. It's not the uploader's fault, but that of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force itself, which apparently did a spectacularly poor job of digitizing this photo. Their "high-resolution" image is the same as this one. *headdesk*
