Source[edit]

This map should have the source of the numbers in the description. --GPSLeo (talk) 11:20, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is based on the list in the article en:School strike for climate, seems a bit long for adding this list to the description. --PJ Geest (talk) 11:49, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think just write: "numbers based on en:School strike for climate" would be better then nothing. --GPSLeo (talk) 15:46, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to update this image[edit]

to update this image yourself is really easy:

  • install Inkscape
  • download the SVG-version of the image and open it in Inkscape
  • zoom in and out with the buttons + and -
  • click on the country you want to edit
  • click on the color on the colorbar you want to give the country
  • upload a new version of the file here on commons

Make sure the country you update is included in following list: en:School strike for climate#List_of_school_climate_strikes_by_country, with a reliable source. --PJ Geest (talk) 10:01, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Spain[edit]

The map shows that there have been at least 1000 protesters in Spain, but I can't find it anywhere in the list on the English wiki. Is there a source for this claim? AnarchistiCookie (talk) 15:20, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There was I think, but It must have been removed. I added Spain to the list on the English wiki, including source. --PJ Geest (talk) 17:56, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! AnarchistiCookie (talk) 18:59, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Japan[edit]

Japan is missing. --87.162.166.148 17:39, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's not. Take a closer look. AnarchistiCookie (talk) 20:16, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

China[edit]

Only in Hong Kong such protest marches are allowed, in the People's Republic of China they are forbidden. It is wrong to highlight the whole country. --87.162.166.148 17:39, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Hong Kong is too small to see on the map, though, so China should probably be colored grey again. AnarchistiCookie (talk) 20:16, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
China whole green even if it is just Hong Kong, it is not then correct. Just facts need to be considered. If it is Hong Kong just then it is just Hong Kong and that need to be noted.109.245.39.64 13:51, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Again China is noted as a whole, even if it is just allowed in Hong Kong. Should be fixed, it can seem as biased or wrong information. Hong Kong still has different rules and regulations than China as whole. It is how it is. Thank you. 178.220.209.166 04:14, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Scale[edit]

Hello,

Is an absolute scale the best way to represent the "implications" of the citizens per country? For example, Switzerland has way less inhabitants, but in % is equivalent or above France, en:Lausanne being named European "capital" of the strike.

Would a % per inhabitants or sth relative make more sense?

Ukraine[edit]

Crimea should be marked light-green as an internationally recognized region of Ukraine. --38.105.200.253 14:48, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

this is a de-facto map, and, de facto, its russian. 187.39.133.201 21:25, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Colors[edit]

Acoording to me, there should be a clearer difference between the colors. The very dark green should be used for +1000.000. --PJ Geest (talk) 08:50, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. but I also think there should be a clearer difference between the lightest two colors. I find it very hard to tell the difference. AnarchistiCookie (talk) 00:04, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think to < 1000 it is useless, especially considering population of some countries. We here cant do advocacy and propaganda work. Also South pole is colored green too. China whole even if it is just Hong Kong. And all sources need to be checked good. Some sources can have bigger amount of people etc but it could be part of activism what is not for wikipedia article. 109.245.39.64 13:49, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It should be the category 100-1000, like it was in the past. --PJ Geest (talk) 11:45, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Based on?[edit]

What is the newest version based on? The description says that the numbers [are] based on en:List of school climate strikes and en:September 2019 climate strikes, which they originally were. But now countries like Morocco, Nigeria and Ecuador (just to name a few) are included too, eventhough they are never mentioned in any of these two articles. AnarchistiCookie (talk) 00:04, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I assume it's based on this article. AnarchistiCookie (talk) 00:08, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose it is indeed based on the two articles. I think there should be a reliable source with the number of strikers, prefereably mentioned in the wikpidia-article before coloring a country. I checked it for 10.000+ countries, but not for lower then 10.000 countries. So these should still be checked. --PJ Geest (talk) 09:07, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
