@Christallkeks: seems that according http://www.alexa.com/topsites/countries/MD in Moldova Odnoklassniki is on 3rd place and Facebook is on 4th, and thus country contour should be colored in orange. --XXN, 11:48, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @XXN: I see VK on 4th, Facebook on 6th and Odnoklassniki nowhere in the Top 25... Did it change so rapidly since you looked?!
This would still mean that Moldova would have to be coloured differently than now (brown for VK instead of blue for Facebook), but if we were to update the map, we should double-check for *every* country and that is a really boring and time consuming task (I did it by hand when I created the map)... At the moment I don't have the time to do that, sorry. -- Christallkeks (talk) 15:18, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Update: My bad, I forgot that Ok.ru is the short URL for Odnoklassniki -- meanwhile they are even on number 2! So you're right, Moldova would have to be orange. That doesn't change my main point though that we should double-check every country before making a major update. -- Christallkeks (talk) 15:24, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Christallkeks: one year later - no changes. Could you do this correction? --XXN, 20:06, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

VK in Germany[edit]

I highly doubt that Vkontakte is the most popular social network in Germany. Is Alexa even a reliable source? --Fibo18 (talk) 13:27, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

it says it's the most popular in the Netherlands as well, which is just so wrong.Lygophile (talk) 16:15, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
According to Alexa, in Germany Facebook is in 9th place, VK is 15th. In the Netherlands it seems so, VK is 5th and Facebook is 12th. Always according to Alexa of course.--190.5.185.180 03:55, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if Alexa is actually a proper source for this, as it doesn't actually factor in active users of the sites. I have a feeling that the reason VK is visited more often than Facebook is due to either a VPN, or the same reason there are so many pornographic sites included on the list. Same is true for Finland and the Baltics. Even in Estonia and Latvia with large Russian minorities, very few people from the Estonian and Latvian majority use VKontakte and essentially everyone uses Facebook. H2ppyme (talk) 08:28, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

VK in Bulgaria[edit]

In Bulgaria VKontakte never had been popular at all. The most popular social media here is Facebook, and always was. ImmortalBG (talk) 17:30, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Poor colour choices[edit]

The difference between the two shades of blue is barely discernible.[1] AjaxSmack (talk) 05:53, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No VK in Ukraine[edit]

VK has been blocked in Ukraine since 2017. A minority of pro-Russian people or elderly people to whom it is hard to change their habits still may use it via VPN, but as far as I understand Alexa doesn't count VPN-bound use to country statistics. So it is absolutely impossible for VK to be the most popular social network in Ukraine as the map shows. Oleksiy.golubov (talk) 10:55, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just a small note. The file pretends to show the data as of 2019, already two year after VK was blocked. So outdating is not the issue. The issue is that the data is either flawed or falsified. --Oleksiy.golubov (talk) 09:46, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
