Unattributed image "Ophelia (The Works, 1873)" is by Hughes (Painter) and Cousen (Engraver)

[edit]

There is no author credited for the picture "Ophelia (The Works, 1873)". In fact, it is an engraving by Charles Cousen (1819-1889) (see the Benezit Dictionary of British Graphic Artists and Illustrators, Volume 1, Oxford University Press, 2012, p. 284-285) after a painting by Arthur Hughes. See also The Art-Journal, New Series, Volume IV, 1865, p. 332, where the engraver's name is erroneously spelled "Cousens", and p. 333, where the name is correctly spelled "Cousen."

The source linked to also identifies A. Hughes as the artist and C. Cousin [sic] as the engraver.
