Factual accuracy

Can somebody provide a historical evidence that East Prussia had been a part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during its peak expansion years? It was de jure either autonomous, or fully independent territory since 1657, populated and governed by the people of neither Polish, nor Lithuanian ethnicity.
