1897 date

Was this portrait created posthumously, or why is it dated to about five years after Gasparis's death? What source does the date come from?

Another note: The license says "own work", but clearly user Maurogargano was not old enough in 1897 to paint this. The source should say where this painting is kept, and who painted it. Rights to the photograph, which may well belong to Maurogargano, are a separate question. Renerpho (トーク) 17:54, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

The author of portrait is unknown (I have an hypothesis, but not a certainty), and it was made after the dead of the astronomer. In 1897ca. the painting was donated to the observatory, and is now part of the museum of the Astronomical Observatory of Capodimonte.
