Forger?

[edit]

@Arno-nl: Hi Arno, do you know who made this particular forgery? Thanks. --Michael Romanov (talk) 23:20, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is one of the most forged classical European stamps, Fournier made a copy too. I am not sure who made this one since there is no good catalogue (yet) of forged stamps, except for Wikimedia in the future ;-). Arno-nl (talk) 08:10, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect this forgery is by Oswald Schröder. He was a partner in a printing company (Schröder & Naumann) in Leipig, Germany. By 1891, he produced some good collotype forgeries of stamps of different parts of the world. Some 56 different forgeries were produced by him, as stated in 1891 in an anonymous article. Schröder fled Germany and lived in Zurich, Switzerland. Arno-nl (talk) 08:52, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! It would be great to create a forged stamp catalog on Wikibooks (see, for example, b:Category:Philately). Cheers, --Michael Romanov (talk) 13:06, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, how about first creating a gallery page, for all pics which later -when too crowded- can be split up to eg. continent?Arno-nl (talk) 13:25, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That is a good idea. Cheers, --Michael Romanov (talk) 13:28, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Gallery page created. Cheers. Arno-nl (talk) 13:42, 15 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
