Color[edit]

I can barely see the difference between the pink and grey states, and I can't see Washington D.C. at all. Why don't we use primary colors instead of pastels? -- Beland 23:30, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Does gray mean that it is illegal, or that there is no particular law either way about it (same sex unions) 63.229.212.250 03:12, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Definition of Marriage" States?[edit]

If I remember correctly, 11 states passed voter referendums adding an admendment to their state constitution which basically says "Marriage is between a man and a woman", essentially making it impossible for those states to fully give marriage rights to same sex couples. Should these states be marked on the map as well? Also, 8 additional states have added this to their constitution. The total list from [1] is Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah--68.248.32.2 17:28, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maryland[edit]

In 2004, the Maryland State Legislature passed domestic partnership legislation, but it was vetoed by Gov. Robert Ehrlich (see Domestic_partnerships_in_the_United_States). It is now the focus of a drive to override the governor's veto. Furthermore, challenges to the discriminatory marriage law are in progress in the Maryland court system. However, there are no civil unions or domestic partnerships right now. In the lingo of this map, I am pretty sure Maryland should be labeled as "issue considered by courts or legislature." kdogg36 04:01, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Baltimore judge just overturned the gay marriage ban, but it is by no means allowed. Maryland should be yellow.

Iowa[edit]

There is also a court challenge in Iowa (see http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051214/NEWS01/512140349/1001), so maybe this state should be yellow too. kdogg36 04:01, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
