Explanation about scale[编辑]

Sting , NordNordWest, could explain that scale?ruler thing ? --Itu (留言) 22:04, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[回复]

Hello.
It’s an equirectangular projection, which means, the concentric longitude lines are straightened to be parallel. Knowing Sweden is near the North Pole and extending over a big 14° of latitude, the stretching of the top (North) area of the map is exacerbated.
That’s why there’s such a big difference in the top/bottom scale. The upper part of the scale shows the linear scale at the top of the map, the lower part, the bottom one, with respective difference along the height of the map in relation within the height in the scale.
A better solution in this case (Sweden) would have been to use another projection, like the equidistant conic one (with concentric longitude lines) I used for example for the Quebec Province map. This would have given a more realistic shape of the area, but some local WPs weren’t able to cope with that kind of projection in geolocation templates, at least at that time.
I hope you understood my explanations. Greetings. Sting (留言) 22:48, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[回复]

The small "ruler" in the lower right is scambled - could it be fixed?[编辑]

The small "ruler" in the lower with the purpose to indicate the map scale is scrambled - could it be fixed?--Anhn (留言) 17:23, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[回复]

Isn’t the problem you mention related to the question discussed in the section above? Sting (留言) 13:20, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[回复]
