An algorithm for categorizing stamps is described here. The current red category is a mess. Sorry. --Michael Romanov (talk) 12:53, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should substitute Category:Stamps by year and Category:Stamps by topic with the appropriate topical and year subcategories. See clarification here. --Michael Romanov (talk) 15:47, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, Category:History of the United States on stamps is not the correct topical category. It's a way general category. Use more specific topical category for a person on stamp. --Michael Romanov (talk) 16:04, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Source=US Post Office

[edit]

As a source, we usually indicate a physical source of an image uploaded. This could be a website, a scanned stamp from own collection, a scanned stamp borrowed from a friend, a scanned image of a particular book or magazine and so on. At the moment, one could suggest that the uploader visited US Post Office and scanned the stamp there. --Michael Romanov (talk) 12:54, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, Gwillhickers, now it's perfect and clear! Keep on being as precise as possible. Thank you. --Michael Romanov (talk) 15:49, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Author=US Post Office/photo

[edit]

Author could be an entity or a person that produces an image. Who is the author of the photo? Photo per se could not be an author. And is this a photo or a scan? --Michael Romanov (talk) 12:56, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's still confusing. Please add that the photo (though I believe it's more correct to say 'scan') was taken by yourself. The problem might be that if you don't specify the 'photographer', one may assume that you use somebody's else work (see, how your 'photo' invokes more questions about 'photographer'!). So, I would just add here that the stamp was scanned and uploaded by User:Gwillhickers. --Michael Romanov (talk) 15:56, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
