Could someone paint Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania green? It's ridiculous - with their weather of course everyone takes off their shoes. H2ppyme (talk) 15:44, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Azerbaidzhan and Iran should be green as well. I think this map is so inaccurate it should be removed. State of clarity (talk) 06:37, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is the purpose of the map merely to indicate whether people remove their shoes in their own homes? I.e. attitudes towards removing shoes when visiting someone else's home are irrelevant?

Furthermore, there are a few things I'm confused about:

  • How has the position in Antarctica been determined?
  • I'm surprised if there's no country in which it varies and there's no clear dominant position.
  • How are countries in which people normally go barefoot pretty much everywhere treated? Are these marked as "shoes not removed" on the basis that people don't remove their shoes because they didn't have them on in the first place? Or is it based on whether those people who do wear shoes outside generally remove them when they come home? The same question applies to countries where wearing shoes or not is regarded as a normal variation in how people dress. Smjg (talk) 00:24, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

UK[edit]

The notion that people in the UK typically take their shoes off, is preposterous and obviously false ...and Wikipedia suggests that people take off their shoes in Italy. (though whether that is accurate, I don't know) ...and why is there no blue-green, anywhere? 155.4.221.27 16:36, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@155.4.221.27: That would suggest it's a regional thing. What part of the UK are you from, where people typically keep their shoes on in their own homes?
I've no idea why there's no blue-green anywhere. Have you read my comment? I asked User:Stefán Örvar Sigmundsson for input, and furthermore about where the info was sourced from, but have had no reply. Smjg (talk) 22:38, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
