Identification of the locomotive nearest the camera

[edit]

I have put this file in the Category:LMS_Royal_Scot_Class having identified the locomotive nearest to the camera for the following reasons:

the absence of visible tanks indicate this is a tender locomotive;

it has a box foreward of the cab on the right-hand side frame;

it has a large glazed cab-side window;

it has outside frames;

the cylinder block has two cylinders, with the uppermost being slightly closer to the cab;

it has a handrail and a (water?) pipe running the length of the boiler;

it has an arc shape name plate above the (centre?) driving wheel which has a splasher which extends above the frame

the splasher has an attatchement which protrudes outwards;

it has curved smoke deflectors which extend to the centre-line of the boiler;

it has a small vertical feed pipe to the boiler (or smokebox?).

I can exclude the two preserved members of this class, Royal Scott and Scotsguardsman on account of absence of the triangular plate on the cabside, held in place by two rivets.

One possible candidate for the exact locomotive is 46167 The_Hertfordshire Regiment on account of the above mentioned triangular plate, which can be seen in File:46167_The_Hertfordshire_Regiment(8164773232).jpg 92.17.90.69 16:42, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
