The land to the north of Columbia river was claimed by Spain as of 1817, as can be seen in File:Provincias Ynternas Nueva España 1817.jpg. Labeling that land as "unclaimed territory" seems therefore incorrect to me. --Hispalois (talk) 06:09, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
