- As I understand it the sextant should be rocked about the line to the star not the horizon. Think of the extreme case of high altitude and you wil lsee what I mean. 88.105.218.232 08:05, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
- The sextant is tilted about the axis of the telescope, that is, the line connecting the observer to the heavenly body. This is to make sure that the image of the son or star is indeed touching the horizon. -- Alvesgaspar (留言) 19:23, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
